Listen, Kansas City. I know you’ve got a lot of things happening Friday nights. And during the summer too. Your calendars must have filled up months ago. On June 27th, though, I recommend canceling said plans and heading to the Riot Room to catch Minneapolis-based duo, tiny deaths.
Unsurprisingly, tiny deaths carry with them a lot of the Minneapolis aesthetic. Their electronic instrumentation reminds me of POLIÇA (also from the area) and the vocals, light and feminine, call to mind those of Purity Ring (not from the area). With catchy synth hooks, booming bass, and shimmering vocals, their music is sexy and danceable – perfect for a venue/bar atmosphere. The duo is in a position where they could become something really big and really great really quickly.
Even though they only have a single song available at the moment, I’m so incredibly impressed that I have the highest hopes for tiny deaths’ live performance. Check out “Oceans” below, and let us know what you think about it in the comments.
Opening for tiny deaths is DJ Tracebeats. Head to the Riot Room when doors open around 8:00pm, with the show starting shortly after. Seeing as though Riot Room claims to be “bringing wasted back in style”, it should be no surprise that this show is 21+. But, what is surprising is that tickets will only set you back $5. For more information, visit the Riot Room’s official site, or click here to purchase tickets.
If you check out the show, be sure to come back and let us know what you thought!
