In a few short days, the 9th Annual Electric Forest Festival will bring new life to Sherwood Forest, and to say we’re excited is an understatement. For four full days–and we’re talking over twelve hours–nine stages of music, camping, and more are coming to the small village of Rothbury, Michigan.
This year’s Electric Forest has sold out, quickly and for good reason. The String Cheese Incident, Odesza, Zeds Dead, and T-Pain are just some of the national acts performing this year, but there are plenty of jam, funk, and bluegrass artists that’ll also hit Electric Forest’s nine stages over the course of the weekend. It’s a wide-ranging festival; anyone can put together a schedule that works for their tastes.
Here are some of the artists we’re catching on Day 2:
Steve Poltz | 3:00PM at The Honeycomb
Steve Poltz is performing at Electric Forest in the Honeycomb three times over the course of the weekend. Who does he think he is, The String Cheese Incident? Kidding, of course, because we’re very much looking forward to relaxing with his music towards the start of the day before dialing the intensity up.
ayokay | 4:30PM at Ranch Arena
Michigan-native ayokay is making the long trip from his current home of Los Angeles to the Forest, and boy are we thankful he’s coming home. ayokay’s 2018 release, In the Shape of a Dream, is light, bouncy, and poppy, kind of in the same vein as Discovery’s LP (2009). Swirling, energetic electronic instrumentation, sparkles, and washes surround ayokay’s vocals, resulting in a performance that is guaranteed to give you the feels.

SABA | 10:00PM at Jubilee
Chicago’s SABA will be bringing his chill hop hop to the Electric Forest on Friday. Electric Forest hasn’t leaned too far into the rap genre in the past, but SABA is going to fit in just perfectly.
