Give It a Spin: “Doctor Helicopter” / “Godshe” by Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor

The Motor City’s premiere psychedelic three-piece, Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor, are back today with a pair of new singles for your listening pleasure. Singles Vol. 2 was co-produced and engineered by Chris Koltay (War On Drugs, Deerhunter, Kurt Vile, Shigeto) at High Bias Studios in Detroit, and features two new songs that fit in nicely amongst the SOYSV back catalog.

“Doctor Helicopter” spells out the perils and stress of living in the today’s inflated information age and begs the question, “How are we expected to process it all?” The song rushes in with a cacophony of reverb as the marching drum beat builds to a full on battle hymn against the 24-hour news cycle and rampant spread of misinformation.

The second of the two singles, “Godshe”, is driving, bass-heavy, psych rock jam with plenty of atmosphere. The turbulent rhythm section juxtaposed against an eerily calm melody creates the perfect landscape for a story that deals with an aging family member and their slow decline into dementia. The song takes a turn and it is quickly realized the intro was foreshadowing into the narrator’s own fear of what may be their impending future.

Singles Vol. 2 is available today on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, and all other major services.
