MWA Approved: Electric Forest 2019 – Thursday

In a few short days, the 9th Annual Electric Forest Festival will bring new life to Sherwood Forest, and to say we’re excited is an understatement. For four full days–and we’re talking over twelve hours–nine stages of music, camping, and more are coming to the small village of Rothbury, Michigan.

This year’s Electric Forest has sold out, quickly and for good reason. The String Cheese Incident, Odesza, Zeds Dead, and T-Pain are just some of the national acts performing this year, but there are plenty of jam, funk, and bluegrass artists that’ll also hit Electric Forest’s nine stages over the course of the weekend. It’s a wide-ranging festival; anyone can put together a schedule that works for their tastes.

Here are some of the artists we’re catching on Day 1:

Whethan

Whethan’s 2018 release Life of a Wallflower Vol. 1 is a certifiable summer jam that’s bursting at the Spotify seams with good stuff. It’s electronic and danceable while still remaining soft and personal. It’s filled with hooks that will stick with you all weekend. Electric Forest is starting off strong by scheduling Whethan on Day 1.

Song you can’t miss: “Radar (feat. HONNE)”

Super Duper

This bouncy electronic outfit is, by all counts, actually Super Duper. It’s not just a name! Swing by their set for a verifiable dance party in the forest, hopefully including many tracks from their latest EP, Vessels.

Song you can’t miss: “Horizons”

TAUK

Jam fans, rejoice! Four-piece rock-fusion outfit TAUK return to Electric Forest this year.

Song you can’t miss: “Friction”

ilo ilo

Not much is known about ilo ilo, but you don’t need to know anything to enjoy their set. In ilo ilo’s very recent release, wish i said this to u sooner, pop sensibilities mix with heavy bass and result in a blissed out electropop sound.

Song you can’t miss: “come thru”
