It’s energetic and ethereal, two concepts that sonically don’t often mesh well together, but they work here. “Wise Mary” is a benevolent psych rock entity—with reverb-drenched vocals buried in between a driving drum beat and layers of effected guitar, “Wise Mary” seems to tell a story and progress with the band working as a single unit as opposed to relying on upfront lyricism. Every piece is necessary and works together beautifully.
In true Diagonal fashion, they lay their wall of sound down brick by reverby brick, and the result is pure shoegazy goodness. Listen below and get your first taste of their new EP.
