Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vivian McConnell has been a staple in the Chicago music scene for years now, playing in notable acts such as Santah & Grandkids. Her latest work under the moniker V.V. Lightbody finds Vivian exploring a more introspective side of her songwriting. Today, we are excited to announce the resulting album Bathing Peach will be available on Limited Edition Cassette Tape & CD via Midwest Action this June!
The opening track “Gaze”, is an ethereal sound collage led by a calming guitar riff and V.V.’s tranquil voice. Stream it below:
McConnell spoke with the Chicago Tribune last year and had this to say about the then new project:
V.V. is a lot more true to my temperament and what I consider to be my musical self. This project has given me a lot of joy and almost seems effortless at times. It’s meditative for me. Since I am usually the only person working on V.V. songs, I can take my time, so the pressure is different. I love collaborating with the talented members of Grandkids and Santah, but having more control over the creative process is challenging and rewarding at the same time.
The album will officially be released on June 15th but you can Pre-Order it now in your preferred format using the links below. Midwest Action and V.V. Lightbody will be celebrating the release with a special show at Schuba’s Tavern on June 8th, stay tuned for more details!
