MWA devotees will have surely caught the last video premiere from Minneapolis shoegazers The Cult Of Lip—we’re back with another single from their new EP Sleep Receiver. Listen to “A Glow” below and join the cult.
“A Glow” is a mix of deep fuzz, woozy vocals, direct drumming and a love for sweeping noise, all rooted in a pop sensibility. The band has a knack for mixing heavy layers of shoegaze with ethereal vocal melodies and this song is no exception.
At their core, The Cult of Lip are the duo of Ronnie Lee (guitars, vocals) and Hannah Porter (bass, vocals), for this release they are joined by Eric Whalen (drums, percussion). Their new EP was recorded at Humdrum Studios in Milwaukee by Kevin Dixon (Brief Candles, Blue Unit), and mastered at Blue Bell Knoll by Neil Weir.
You can listen to the full Sleep Receiver EP at the end of September released via Rare Plant Records in Cassette and Digital formats. Until then get lost in the washy guitar drone of “A Glow”.
If you’re in the Minneapolis area be sure to catch the band’s official release show on Monday, October 1st at 7th ST. Entry with Cave Light and Lazear. Check out their upcoming tour dates below and don’t miss The Cult of Lip on the road!
