Watch This: “If You Saw Me Now (Live Acoustic)” By Gretchen Pleuss – Video Premiere

Ohio native Gretchen Pleuss is back to share the follow up to her single “Everybody’s Pretty” from her upcoming full-length release Daughter of the Broader Skies.

While the studio recording of “If You Saw Me Now” is backed by a full band complete with slide guitar, organs, and a solid rhythm section, this version strips all of that down to just Gretchen herself, a guitar, and a microphone. It’s a bittersweet love song that any listener with a heart should be able to identify with.

Watch the live acoustic video of the song below and revel in the raw beauty of this performance:

The lyrics pour out of Gretchen effortlessly as if she’s sung it in her head a thousand times over. Lines like “I’m losing friends faster than myself in the mirror” sum up the toll an unhealthy relationship can take on a person in a beautifully succinct way. While we can’t wait for her upcoming studio album, videos like this remind us of how great of a talent Pleuss is when left with just her voice and a guitar.

Daughter of the Broader Skies will be released via Ohio imprint Sun Pedal Recordings this April. Keep an eye out for it and catch Gretchen live at one her upcoming shows listed below.
