Watch This: “Curious” by Violet Crime – Video Premiere

Today, Midwest Action is happy to premiere Violet Crime‘s new video for “Curious,” off of Paper Queen.

Paper Queen, released in June 2019, is host to five indie pop tracks, with “Curious” as the album’s lead. The outfit takes a bluesy turn here, with heavy instrumentation providing a solid backdrop to vocalist Jeff Mills’s growls. The pure, rock energy that is weaved into the very essence of this track is captured in the live session video. Watch it below:

Of the video, vocalist Jeff Mills says:

The subject matter is pretty heavy and addresses a pretty major identity crisis I went through in college. This was the first time I ever wrote about that time in my life and it all kinda came out at once pretty authentically, and I think that comes across in the song.

Our videographer Derek Blidy chose to show the idea of “bondage to tradition” through the use of black and white. And, to contrast “the liberation of tradition” through the quick transition to color and independence.

If “Curious” got you riled up, you’ve got a chance to get rowdy with Violet Crime this weekend. The band will be playing at Tonic Room with Manasseh and the Fellas and Grace Coletta on August 10th. Tickets are a cool $10, and the show is 21+. Pick up your tickets here.

Violet Crime is Jeff Mills (vocals), Selina Doran (vocals, rhythm guitar), Tom Goier (lead guitar), Kasey Gandham (bass), and Kevin Nagel (drums).
