What are you waiting for? GO. (But, like, please come back when you’re done.)
This year, Soundset–which was started by Minneapolis hip hop label Rhymesayers–turns 10 years old, and the lineup is impressive. Jam-packed with great music by newcomers and veterans alike, the festival promises a ton of exciting things. The first exciting thing: the Wu-Tang Clan will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their iconic debut, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Sweet! The second: Badu is back after not performing in the Twin Cities since the early 2000s. If you’re holding a grudge, drop it and scoop a ticket instead.
The most exciting thing:
Minnesota is a hot bed for hip hop. There is some damn good music coming out of that state, and Soundset is the perfect venue to highlight its all-stars. Dem Atlas, Atmosphere, Lazerbeak & Paper Tiger as Sick Trim, Willy Wonka, OG Grip, and Mike 2600 are all scheduled to make their hometown proud.
