Swiftly approaching is Soul Low‘s much-anticipated Kind Spirit EP, set to be released on January 3rd. The Milwaukee outfit has been hyping this ambitious project by releasing a video to go alongside each song.
Today, Midwest Action is premiering the third video in a set of four. In Soul Low’s take on the lyric video, “Two Years/Two Weeks” features a frantically written love letter. The video manages to wrap the viewer up in the emotion the character is feeling. A little desperate, a little anxious, and a lot like you don’t give a shit about anything else in the world.
One of the more interesting points is that this is shot from the first person perspective. Maybe you’ve been this person?
It’s also fascinating to watch how the written lyrics match the meter and emotion of the song, widening characters when notes are held out longer and reducing camera shake during the bridge when the song seems a bit more level-headed (for a few seconds at least). Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments:
I’ve seen some pretty bad lyric videos, and this is not one of them. Hats off to director Max Hey and Soul Low for being so damn entertaining.
