When I walked into Subterranean, we were greeted by a wall of people. Tonight was the night grunge-loving quartet Lever was releasing their sophomore full-length album, Douse.
Lever tore through their set, bringing energy and months of hard work to their performance. Lead singer and guitarist, Jon Babin, was every bit the showman we needed, stomping on the stage when the songs needed just a bit more emphasis, and taking brief moments to cheers with the audience and show appreciation for their support.
The set ended, and although the band was just as tired and sweaty as the audience, they responded to the exuberant chant of “One more song!”
It was incredible to be at a show where the audience was just as excited about the new album as the band was, and when you could feel the most genuine appreciation reciprocated back from Lever. This show was memorable, but more importantly, it gave me all sorts of *feels*, and what more could you ask for?
Douse is out now on Midwest Action. Order it on cassette or CD.
