MWA Approved: Electric Forest 2019 – Saturday

In a few short days, the 9th Annual Electric Forest Festival will bring new life to Sherwood Forest, and to say we’re excited is an understatement. For four full days–and we’re talking over twelve hours–nine stages of music, camping, and more are coming to the small village of Rothbury, Michigan.

This year’s Electric Forest has sold out, quickly and for good reason. The String Cheese Incident, Odesza, Zeds Dead, and T-Pain are just some of the national acts performing this year, but there are plenty of jam, funk, and bluegrass artists that’ll also hit Electric Forest’s nine stages over the course of the weekend. It’s a wide-ranging festival; anyone can put together a schedule that works for their tastes.

Here are some of the artists we’re catching on Day 3:

Kid Quill

Kid Quill from Shelbyville, Indiana absolutely slays. In 2016, Kid Quill released his debut album, The Name Above The Title, followed by 94.3 The Reel in 2017. Most recently, he released two singles in July of 2018: “Kids in the Summer” and “Rain, Rain.” We’re looking forward to a set full of his classics, and maybe (hopefully) a few new, unreleased tracks as well.

Manatee Commune

Manatee Commune (Grant Eadie) is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, but they’re so much more than that. This electronic artist is bringing clean, surfy guitar licks and arpeggiated sine waves from Washington state to the Electric Forest in Michigan.

Steve Poltz | 3:00PM at The Honeycomb

Steve Poltz is performing at Electric Forest in the Honeycomb three times over the course of the weekend. Who does he think he is, The String Cheese Incident? Kidding, of course, because we’re very much looking forward to relaxing with his music towards the start of the day before dialing the intensity up.
