Cincinnati, Ohio mainstays, Pop Empire, have made quite an evolution since they first released their 2010 debut, Rainy Child. “For Maggie,” the first song from Pop Empire’s upcoming album, premieres today exclusively on Midwest Action.
“For Maggie” finds the band at their heaviest as they build a dark, psychedelic dreamscape. The song starts with a resolute drum hits, a swaggering beat, and fuzzed out guitar–imagine a sleepier version of Sleep. “For Maggie” features the band at their heaviest, giving way to Wilson’s stark, beseeching vocals.

“For Maggie” will be released on the bands forthcoming album, Novena, the first recorded output from the present lineup of the band. Pop Empire will celebrate Novena with a hometown album release celebration at the end of July and a tour of the Midwest and Eastern US and Canada at the tail end of summer and into fall.
