The inaugural Arcfest is swiftly approaching. To be held on August 17th in Watervliet, Michigan, Arcfest is sure to prove itself a worthy contender in a busy festival-filled summer. Not only does Arcfest boast a great line-up and an affordable ticket price, but it will also serve as a beer release for Arcight Brewing, the brewery that is hosting the festival. Until you can officially taste the Soursmith Red Raspberry, just imagine how delicious it’ll taste as some of the Midwest’s best tunes swirl around you.
Here’s who we’re looking forward to this weekend:
Ryley Walker
Chicago’s prodigal son Ryley Walker has done it all in the last few years. His latest release is a noisy cover album of a scraped Dave Matthews Band project, and it totally rips. We’re always excited to see what he’ll do next. HIs live show is rarely predictable, but between the slough of amazing collaborators he’s worked with and an amazing back catalog, you can be sure it’ll be a great time.
Dream Version
The perfect mix of irreverent and infectious indie music. Dream Version have crafted some of our favorite songs and EPs of the last few years and keep us guessing by wearing a wide variety of influences on their sleeves. Don’t miss them at Arcfest.
Dehd
Made up of members of Ne-Hi and Lala Lala, Dehd have become one of Chicago’s premiere dreamy garage rock bands. We’ve been spinning their self-titled EP pretty heavily since it came out and their latest release Water lives up to it’s predecessors. The band recently signed to NY label Fire Talk Records so catch them live now before they become underground sensations.
The Baby Magic
In the early days of MWA, The Baby Magic were a band we would always go out of our way to see. Their upbeat (and often just downright goofy) live shows were always full of abrasive punk rock energy and a damn fun time. They took a break from the scene for a while, but boy are we glad they’ve reformed. The lineup has changed slightly but all that punk energy remains. They’re still one of our favorite acts around.
