Chicago’s Protovulcan blur the lines between post-punk, noise-rock, and proto-metal. Fronted by the robotic vocals and keyboards of Will MacLean (formerly of Mercury Rev offshoot Variety Lights) the band is a truly fresh take on the quintessential “three-piece rock band.”
Joined by Deric Criss (of Aleks and the Drummer, Walking Bicycles) on drums, and Nicholas Ammerman (of Fake Fictions, Advance Base) on guitar, Protovulcan are seasoned veterans in the Chicago rock scene. Their latest full-length album Life is Twigs was recorded by Steve Albini and will join the Midwest Action catalog on Friday, May 29th.
