Milwaukee’s Calliope take a page out of the ’70s Prog-Rock playbook with some incredibly heavy organ and guitar work. Their latest 7″ is now available in 4 groovy variations via the mad vinyl alchemists at Romanus Records.
Recorded deep in the northwoods of Wisconsin, “Sea of Red” is the first glimpse at their upcoming full-length album Chapel Perilous and it leaves us dying for more. Check out the heavy vibes for yourself:
Not to be overlooked by the A-Side, “Brujo” begins with a flurry of drums that would make John Bonham blush. The song takes a breath about a minute in but hits some serious stoner rock tones by the midpoint. It’s a groove that will get your head nodding (or banging) by the end of it.
These records are selling FAST (two variations are already gone!) but head over to Romanus Records and pick up a ‘Random Color’ or ‘Pack Splat’ 7″ record (for the cheeseheads out there) and bring these two new Calliope jams home!
