If you know only one thing about the founders of Midwest Action it’s that we’ll always ask to pass the salt. So when Kansas City synth-punk 4-piece Salty came our way we couldn’t resist sprinkling a little into our schedule.
Luckily, the band is just as delicious as their name implies. “Perfect Angels” is the opening track from their upcoming album Dry Rub coming out via Chicago label/distro What’s For Breakfast? Records at the end of the March and it’s one helluva jam.
The song quickly calls to mind quintessential British punk like The Adverts or Buzzcocks but with plenty of Devo-esque electro-weirdness on top. It’s got enough energy and staying power to satiate your new-wave, punk, and dance needs. Stream it below and hear why Salty is our new favorite KC band.
Add a little Dry Rub to your BBQ this week and pre-order a CD from What’s For Breakfast? Records. The band will have physical copies for sale at L’il Baby Fest in Fayetteville, AR but a Kansas City release party is in the works.
Chicago fans will have to wait until Sunday, June 16th to catch the band live at the second annual Brek-Fest at Chop Shop in Wicker Park. More details to come. Dry Rub will be available on CD and Cassette, keep an eye on the WFBR shop and snag a copy ASAP.
