Give It a Spin: “Lunar Moods” by Bleach Party – Song Premiere

If you’re anything like me, you’re constantly looking for some new noise to drown out the ringing in your ears from years of standing way to close to the PA speakers. Today’s beautiful new noise comes from Chicago scene veterans Bleach Party

Devotees of Chicago music have surely stumbled across the band many times before. Whether you’ve seen them live or just caught their features in the Chicago Reader, Bleach Party has been a ubiquitous party of Chicago indie rock for years. The local super-group is a Voltron-eque machine built of front woman Meg MacDuff (Montrose Man, ex-Velocicopter), drummer Kaylee Preston (Fembot, ex-Rabble Rabble), guitarist Bart Pappas (ex-BIGCOLOUR), and bassist Richard Giraldi (ex-Rodeo).

While the band has released their fair share of singles, splits, and EPs, they’re finally unveiling their debut full-length LP, NOLA, on November 9th! We’re extremely excited to premiere the track “Lunar Moods” today,  stream it below:

The song melds ’70s classic rock, ’80s new wave, and ’90s alt-rock into a bouncy yet grungy little tune. Flipping the eternal question posed by the Pixies back at the listener, MacDuff confidently asks “Where is your mind, where is your mind, where is your mind?” while rippin’ some catchy guitar riffs over a driving bass and drum groove.

Drawing their title and album art inspiration from the big easy itself, the band describes the musical content on NOLA as a diverse collection of “Vibrant tales of personal experiences and encounters from relationships to UFOs”

If “Lunar Moods” has caught your attention and left you wanting more, head on over to the band’s Bandcamp page where you can stream another two singles from the new album—”Entertain Yourself” and “No Vacancy”. While you’re there, Pre-Order yourself a digital copy of NOLA and be the first kid on your block to add this little gem to their collection.

The official NOLA release show is Thursday November 8 at the Empty Bottle. Bleach Party will be joined by fellow Chicago rockers Peach Fuzz and Chicken Happen. Tickets are available now and be sure to RSVP via Facebook
