Dale Rothenberg is a 24-year-old photographer living and working in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Oberlin Conservatory in 2013.
Rothenberg’s How To Get To Heaven is a visual survey of mall-churches in northeast Ohio. The work highlights the reuse of retail spaces for spiritual purposes, and the overwhelming amount of commercial aesthetic that remains as units are converted into places of worship. Leftover remnants of the previous shops, such as the holes for hanging signs above many entryways, are a constant reminder of the dichotomy of each space.
