Rapper, poet, actor, author, and teaching artist Mykele Deville has been one of the most prolific figures in Chicago hip-hop and culture since for years now. From his 2016 release Super Predator to last year’s Peace, Fam, Mykelle Deville has been composing songs that speak on the misconceptions of black life, injustice, and the gnawing anxiety of it all.
His single “Type Love” is the latest a line of songs meant to celebrate the importance of peace and love. The track features Chicago via DC artist and performer Daryn Alexus sharing chorus vocals with Deville and adding some ethereal backups during the verses. Their vocal combination is simply gorgeous and the accompanying video is equally gorgeous—this short film gets more and more visually stunning as it goes on.
