We’ve been fans of You Folk since the beginning. In February of 2018, we swooned over “Endearment.” Then, in September, we swooned over “Nolo Contendere” for about a month before we shifted our focus to swooning over their debut album, The Foil (Worry Records). Today, You Folk is sharing something brand new to soak up: a music video for “Nolo Contendere,” premiering today exclusively on Midwest Action.
The entire video is cast in a ethereal and nostalgic light, from the palette that feels a touch desaturated to the fleeting instances of double exposed, layered footage. Between shots of a live performance, scenes juxtapose life and death. One thing I appreciate about You Folk is the poetic and artful lyricism, and that same artistry has extended into this video.
