Watch This: “Cab” by Engine Summer – Video Premiere

Engine Summer is truly a quintessential Chicago three-piece. They’re well attuned to sounding minimal and massive all at once. Their songs are undeniably catchy but always feel like they could suffer a complete and utter meltdown at anytime (in a good way.)

We’re excited to bring you some new visuals from the band and videographer Reilly Drew. Get out of your head for 3 1/2 minutes and hop into the new music video for “Cab” from their 2017 release Trophy Kids below:

Musically, “Cab” is reminiscent of ’90s Sonic Youth if they had embraced mainstream pop a little more and remained on the softer side of indie rock. Once the song reaches a chant of “Give it up, give it up…” it’s hard not to be transported back to your teens hearing your own parents or elders spouting that epitaph. Engine Summer tap into adolescence, growing up in the ’90s and the general pains of being a young adult in a wonderful way (they even have a song called “Dawson’s Creek”.)

If “Cab ” is up your alley do yourself a favor and stream the full album Trophy Kids on Spotify, bandcamp, or even better, pick up a coke-bottle clear 12″ vinyl record and spin this one to your heart’s content.

You can catch the band live with Modern Vices and Uma Bloo on Tuesday, October 23rd at Sleeping Village for $1 Beer Night (RSVP here). The band is busy prepping for a 2019 release so keep an eye out for more new music from Engine Summer any day now.
