Todd Kessler has been releasing music under various monikers since 2005, but Sea Fever, released in 2012, marked the first official effort as Todd Kessler & The New Folk. Those seven years afforded Kessler and his bandmates the time to craft the alt-folk-pop sound that you can hear throughout the record. After a stint as a member of “Team Ceelo” on NBC’s The Voice, Kessler is back with The New Folk working on their follow-up record.
In anticipation of the upcoming release, Todd and the gang recently put out a music video for the Sea Fever track, “Put You In My Pocket”. Coming in at just over two minutes, the harmony-fueled piece seems to perfectly embody the phrase “short and sweet”. The song’s airy presence finds its fitting visual representation in the gorgeous sketchbook-style black and white animation of artist Sara Lim.
Tomorrow night, Kessler will be performing in the Outdoor Acoustic Lounge at City Winery Chicago for the benefit Below the Belt: Fighting For Women’s Pelvic Health. You can find additional details here. Check out the summer dates for The New Folk, below.
