Slow Bird is an ambient indie rock trio hailing from Seattle. They will have played a handful of Midwestern dates before landing in my hometown of Chicago on October 17. I’ve yet to see a bad show at the Metro, so as you can imagine I have high hopes for Thursday evening.
Chicago, if you’re a fan of locals MY GOLD MASK, chances are you’re going to dig Slow Bird. Fronted by Jennae Quisenberry, her powerful and melodic vocals are a key component to the soundscapes that Slow Bird crafts. Layers of instrumentation coupled with her haunting vocals sound almost eerie, and I can only imagine how it might surround an audience member in a concert hall. Check out Slow Bird’s debut album Chrysalis below.
With INVSN and Minus the Bear both following Slow Bird’s performance, this is sure to be a concert that will leave you thinking about it for weeks to follow. Tickets for the Chicago performance will put you back $26, and only $23 if you plan ahead. Doors at 6:00, show at 6:30, and details here.
UPCOMING SHOWS:
October 16 at Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI
October 17 at Metro IN Chicago, IL
October 18 at Majestic Theater in Detroit, MI
For our friends outside of the Midwest, be sure to check their schedule for quickly approaching dates along the East Coast.
