I first heard Foxygen in December of 2012, opening for of Montreal at the Beachland Ballroom. I remember thinking, there’s something about these kids. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what that something was–charisma, unabashed self-expression, inexperience or a combination of the three–but the otherworldly aura the band created felt like someone had spliced through time to expose a glimpse into the 60s music scene at its peak. I was instantly hooked.
Amidst the ephemera of their rock predecessors, the band will perform tonight as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Sonic Sessions, which are sponsored by Magic Hat Brewing Company. These shows take place inside the museum’s Ahmet Ertegun main exhibit hall and expose new artists to Cleveland. What’s more, tickets are only $5.50. Tickets are available through the Rock Hall box office or by going here. Doors will open at 7pm tonight, with the show beginning at 8pm.
