Named a “New Artist You Need to Know” by both Rolling Stone and SPIN this year, you probably don’t need to hear from me that country/rock singer-songwriter Lydia Loveless is well worth your time. This year, Loveless and her band celebrated the release of Somewhere Else, and if you are unfamiliar with the Ohio-native, this is the perfect time to get acquainted.
Supporting Somewhere Else, Loveless will be bringing her energetic punk-infused take on country music to Chicago on Black Friday for one of her last performances of the year. If you’re looking for something to do after a day of shopping, this is it. If you’re on the fence, just take a listen to the single, “Really Wanna See You” below and we’ll see you at Lincoln Hall on Friday. You can pick up a copy of Somewhere Else, out on Chicago’s Bloodshot Records, on CD for $11 or on vinyl for just $3 more. Choose wisely.
The 21+ show kicks off at 9:00 PM this Friday at Lincoln Hall (2424 N Lincoln Ave) with sets from Baby Money and The Girls. Tickets are going to run you $15 and you can grab them at the door or online before the show. If you’re not in the Chicago area, Lydia will be in St. Paul, MN on Saturday before heading to North Carolina and Tennessee to close out the year. Check out the tour schedule here.
