Three days. Two “Dunn”s. One fest. Chicago’s very own, often imitated, never duplicated Dunn Dunn Fest is returning to the Windy City from February 20th to the 22nd. There are ample opportunities to get your Americana on over the weekend, but Friday evening has expanded and now offers the extremely hard decision between two great venues and two great bills.
Beat Kitchen | 8:30PM | $15 | 17+
Opening at the Beat Kitchen are local favorites, Safe Haven and Great Divide. The soulful vocals of Great Divide will surely get the crowd dancing, not to mention the occasional brass swells and piano accents in their compositions. Their energetic, country-tinged, Americana sound is a perfect fit for Dunn Dunn Fest.
Headlining this venue are Michigan folk rock septet, The Soil & the Sun. Past live reviews have noted the diversity of the songs they play on stage, varying from light and ethereal to intense musical adventures. This outfit will be heading to SXSW in March, so we recommend jumping on the opportunity to see them live before the world realizes how amazing they are.

The Hideout | 9:00PM | General Admission
Tonight, the Hideout is host to openers The Whiskey Gentry and Michele McGuire, who is celebrating the release of Off The Wagon this evening. Slated to headline is Martin Van Ruin. The outfit’s debut album, Every Man a King, was unleashed into the world just last January, and it’s already got a healthy amount of positive reviews. Their sound oozes folk rock, with harmonies, violins, and country-tinged guitar to back the claim up.
Tickets for Dunn Dunn Fest will run you $15 per show on Friday, or if you’re one of those “plan ahead”-type people, $30 for a three-day pass. Purchase a three-day pass here, and we are looking forward to this Friday when Dunn Dunn Fest is sure to be in full swing.
