With what was hopefully the Midwest’s last winter storm behind us, Chicago rock group Cousin Dud is ready to usher in the Spring with their warm take on Americana. The guys will be at the Empty Bottle this Friday to celebrate the release of their newest record, The Faded.
The latest in a discography that dates back to 2010, The Faded perfectly encapsulates the vibe of a Midwestern summer and leaves you longing for nights spent in front of the campfire, drink in hand. Album standouts include “Repo Nights”, “Touchdown Tommy (My DUI)”, and the album’s lead track, “Illinois”. Check out a live video of the band performing the song below, and stream all seven tracks on Cousin Dud’s Bandcamp.
The 21+ show kicks off at 9:00 PM this Friday, 3/14, at the Empty Bottle (1035 N Western Ave) with folk-rock trio Reins and rockabilly trio Old Grand Dads opening the show. Performing a headlining set after Cousin Dud will be Mississippi rock/blues/country artist Jimbo Mathus. Tickets are $10, and can be picked up online or at the door before the show.
