From Akron, OH and Nashville, TN to their current location in Chicago, rock quartet Ballroom Boxer is a musical melting pot of Midwestern and Southern inspiration. My first introduction to the group came last April at the Beat Kitchen when I caught their opening set for IAMDYNAMITE. On a bill with some musically heavy-hitters, the guys definitely managed to hold their own.
Six months later, Ballroom Boxer released their Sundownr EP. The EP’s five tracks are drenched with American rock and roll, taking cues from Nashville’s roots in country and Chicago’s historic blues. You can get a copy of Sundownr as a digital download or limited edition CD for just $5 through Ballroom Boxer’s Bandcamp.
Tomorrow’s 21+ show at the Subterranean (2011 W North Ave) kicks off at 9:00 PM and marks the departure of Boxer’s bassist Tom Wood. Opening the show will be Chicago’s Felix & Lyons, More Gorgeous, and Ohio’s Listen, Little Man. Tickets are just $8 and can be picked up online or at the door before the show.
