Pop rocker Matt Wertz released his latest LP, Heatwave, on August 27th. Originally from Liberty, MO, Matt has spent the past 12 years pursuing his music career in Nashville, TN. And now we find this musician on the road and touring in support of this recent release, Heatwave.
Wertz’s album is a poppy, 80s-influenced journey. Complete with jangly guitar and crisp beats, it’ll take you back to another era. His childhood idols have influenced the album’s soft rock sound, idols like Don Henley, Kenny Loggins, Bryan Adams, and Steve Winwood.
Producer Brandon Hood says of Heatwave, “The album began with a concept, but it grew a lot from there. It’s come to be a broader exploration of Matt’s influences and everything he’s learned and become as a songwriter.” Heatwave will be released digitally, on vinyl, and as a limited cassette run.
With this project, Wertz asks that his listeners learn to “Take having fun seriously!” Check out the video for the first single from the album, “Get to You”, below. It’s obvious that Matt has taken his own advice in filming this and looks fabulous while doing so, too.
Touring with Matt Wertz are Elenowen, a husband-wife outfit hailing from Nashville as well. Just recently, Josh and Nicole successfully raised money for an upcoming album through their “40K in 40 Days” KickStarter campaign.
Matt Wertz is performing at Lincoln Hall in Chicago on October 18th, along with a handful of other regional dates. The show will kick off at 9:00PM and advance tickets will only put you back $20. For more details on the Chicago performance, click here.
