I’ve seen JC Brooks everywhere over the past few years. From a Michigan wine fest to Lollapalooza and countless bars and venues in the city of Chicago. Throughout those years of playing any and every stage they could, JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound (JCBUS for short) have been steadily perfecting their sound and building a bigger audience one performance at a time.
Fast Forward to this weekend and they’re headlining one of the biggest clubs in the city, the Metro. This is no overnight success story, the band is one of the hardest working group of musicians I’ve ever seen.
In the early days, their live sets were primarily filled with a wide range of cover songs that showcased the band’s amazing ability to re-imagine classic rock songs. Check out their soulful take on the Wilco classic “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” and watch how they effortlessly transform it into a Motown single.
The band’s original songs are just as powerful as their deep catalog of covers. They’ve put out 3 full length LP’s and a slew of 7″ singles and show no signs of slowing down with their latest LP Howl, available now via Bloodshot Records.
JCBUS, as mentioned, are playing at Chicago’s Metro on November 16. Joining the bill are Brooklyn disco favorites, Escort. Advance tickets will only run you $19, and $21 at the door. Doors at 8PM; show at 9PM; 18+.
