A few Friday’s ago on April 3rd, Chicago folk quintet, Cavepainters, released their latest album With the Trees. To accompany its release the group shot three performance videos in the same house and room where the album was recorded. We are thrilled to be able to premiere the third and final video for the track “Sweet Relief” right here on MWA.
“Sweet Relief” is a wonderful introduction to the music of Cavepainters for the uninitiated. The track features the intricate instrumentation, carefully crafted harmonies, and honest songwriting that you can find throughout their discography. Watch the performance below and look for the first two videos for “Heart Full of Smoke” and “Dogwood Winter” on Cavepainters’ Facebook page.
You can pick up a digital copy of With the Trees on Bandcamp, and if you’re in Chicago, Cavepainters will be celebrating the album’s release this Saturday, 4/25, with an intimate acoustic performance at Saki Records. The free show starts at 4:00 PM with a set from Joshua Rosen. Details and RSVP here.
