This all guy group (except the girl) have been making some incredible lo-fi garage-psych for a couple of years now. Bike Cops have two EPs under their belts, and are poised to release their biggest and best EP yet.
Close Cover, Strike Gently is available today via Indiana indie label Jurassic Pop. The EPs title is borrowed from the instructions on a book of matches, dramatizing the simple act of ignition, and from the opening notes of “Salmon Sundae” to the explosive last half of “Dog Song,” Bike Cops come through on that promise. They ignite.
“Salmon Sundae”, streamable below, is as delicious as the name implies. It’s a fast-driving, reverb-drenched, garage rock trip. The recording is a much more polished sound compared to their previous EPs, but the band’s energy is still very much intact even after making the jump from lo-hi to hi-fi.
Dig “Salmon Sundae”? We thought so. Pick up the rest of the album on limited-edition clear cassette via Jurassic Pop here for just $6, but hurry – there are only 100! In support of Close Cover, Strike Gently, Bike Cops are heading out to hit a few Midwest (and a few East Coast) venues; check out their tour schedule below and catch the magic live.
