Great Lakes rockers Cities & Coasts are back at it again with a brand new single, “Finer Than Gold”. The single is a precursor to the band’s sophomore album to be released in early 2016. While the song follows their signature 60s surf rock formula, it provides a more robust attitude that highlights lead singer Nathan Hedge’s dulcet vocals.
“We spent the last year playing tons of shows in support our first record Postcards from the Great Lakes. Throughout the process, we added some new band members and explored our sound,” said Hedges. “We realized we had a lot of options and textures we could add to our music that will be present on the upcoming full album.”
Cities & Coasts are known for their personal ballads inspired by their mutual admiration for Cleveland and the Great Lake Erie. It’s no wonder then that the warm guitar riffs and dreamy lyrics of “Finer Than Gold” also come from the heart. “I always try to write based on personal experiences because then it is more genuine. Singing about something you haven’t experienced or don’t truly care about can be picked up by the listener, and they don’t believe it,” said Hedges.
Listeners, believe! Cities & Coasts are back to bring in the toasty vibes of summer you’ll be craving for all winter long in the Midwest.
If you like what you’ve heard, you can catch Cities & Coasts release show live on Saturday, November 28 at the Beachland Ballroom as they premiere “Finer Than Gold”. Dan Miraldi & the Chaos Band and Uptight Sugar kick off the show.
