I’ve been a fan of Bloomington, IN indie-rock trio, Sleeping Bag, since their self-titled release in 2011. Led by drummer Dave Segedy’s minimalist delivery, Sleeping Bag knows how to write a catchy tune that drips with nostalgia. After meeting Rozwell Kid‘s Jordan Hudkins while on tour in Pennsylvania, the two began collaborating via e-mail.
The result is Dreamboats; a true musical collaboration masquerading as a split. Each of the album’s six tracks showcase the best of each participant, and leave me hoping for more Sleeping Bag/Rozwell Kid collaborations in the future.
The album, self-advertised as “a real chill listen”, will be released on vinyl through Jurassic Pop Records on October 29th. The delicious pink/blue split pictured above is only available in an limited edition of 100, so you’ll want to get your pre-order in as soon as possible. The hand-numbered pink/blue edition will run you $15, while traditional black wax is also available for $12. Check out Dreamboat‘s cowbell-driven lead track, “Chinchilla”, below and get your wallets out.
