Comprised of Rachel and Nick Kraska, Chicago’s Post Honeymoon blends genres like post-punk and noise pop in a fascinating way with the help of instruments like the Hammond organ, Clavichord, and Mellotron. If any of that managed to pique your interest, then prepare yourself for a love affair with Post Honeymoon’s sophomore LP, Second Skin.
Second Skin comes just over four years after the release of Post Honeymoon’s self-titled debut. Though it’s undoubtedly more refined, Second Skin offers up the group’s signature dark tones powered by Rachel’s haunting key arrangements and Nick’s almost industrial drumming.
To hear this style in action, give a listen to the album’s first single, “Kid With A Gun”, below. Second Skin is available on 12″ vinyl in an edition of 300 or on CD in an edition of 150. You can pick up a copies of each online.
The release show is this tomorrow night, Friday 9/6, at the Burlington Bar – 3425 W Fullerton Ave.
The show starts at 9:00 PM with opening acts Bone & Bell and We Are Hex setting the stage for Post Honeymoon.
There is a $7 donation at the door, and you can RSVP to the event on Facebook, here.
