riverhorse describes their musical influences as “very many” on their Facebook page, but if truth be told, riverhorse embodies the echoes of wistful shoe-gaze memories. As if The Jesus and Mary Chain had a baby with Jim James. The trio, from Joliet, Illinois, is made up of Brian Motyll (vocals), Scott Ahlgrim and Austin O’Connor. “Visitors” is the second single released off of their debut full-band LP, Who Gets The Last Laugh On Doomsday.
“Visitors” is the type of song you want playing as you star in your own biographical movie, and the love of your life that you thought was lost forever, chases you down in the rain, takes your face in their hands, and gives you the kiss that will burn your lips. Wait, sorry. I just woke up from a daydream. But, if you listen to “Visitors”, and close your eyes, you’ll get what I mean around the 5:08 mark, or maybe you won’t. But one thing’s for sure, you’ll leave feeling something that reverberates in your bones and leaves their tiny hairs on your neck standing.
You can catch riverhorse at their album release show, February 16, 2018 at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet along with John Condron & The Old Gang Orchestra. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.
