With a full band on stage, flower adorned mic stand, and a packed house, Chicago singer/songwriter Vivian McConnell took the stage to perform as latest musical incarnation V.V. Lightbody last Friday at Schubas Tavern.
The 9-piece band pulled out all of the stops and included backup singers, flutists, guitars, organ and more. Vivi and her band beautifully performed songs from the new album Bathing Peach as well as a few non-album tracks including a brilliant cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Help Me” complete with that one really cool saxophone part and Jordan Reynolds aka Rose Hotel splitting the vocal parts.
Atlanta based act Rose Hotel opened the night with her gorgeous brand of bedroom rock. A good friend of McConnell’s, and an equally talented songwriter and performer, there could be no more fitting opener for the evening. Check out our photos below and stream songs from each band while you relive this wonderful event presented by CHIRP Radio and Midwest Action.
