MWA Live: Sugarpulp, Strange Foliage, Faux Furrs at Schubas – 2/24

Faux Furrs dove into the evening with smooth melodies and incandescent hymns on Sunday February 24th at Schubas. The playfully alluring “Follow Me,” from their album Canopy, dared the audience to get their feet wet in a sea of mystery. Bewitching songs such as “Volumes” sailed along in pursuit of a nautical adventure. At high tide, “Bag Baby” swept in riding a powerful current. Fresh new grooves from their brain lab of hypnotic vibrations debuted including, “Invaders” and “Worlds Made of Words.”

Do you want a pet iguana? Strange Foliage nailed their hooks to the wall with finesse. Layered beats lubricated the interplay between a powerful chorus in “Genuflect” and haunting licks in “See is Red”. What do you know!?

Sugarpulp laid down their fresh album Teeth with delicate synergy. Tones melted into melodies inside a steam bath of tantalizing vapors. From summoning the heat with “Adonis” to seducing the audience with their single “Waiting in the Dark”, Sugarpulp teased the fringes of my heart with the debut of their new song “I Am the Mountain.” Heavenly resonance balanced dynamic chromatics, electrifying an eager audience! Check out their album and catch them on tour to SXSW.
