The much anticipated Pitchfork Music Festival is scheduled for July 20-22 this year, or (more colloquially) this weekend. We’re very much looking forward to the good weather, good music, and good vibes of the weekend. Here’s what we’re most looking forward to on Saturday:
Paul Cherry | 1:00PM at the Green Stage
Paul Cherry’s album, Flavour (Feeltrip Records), was released in March of this year to great acclaim. Cherry kicks off Saturday’s festivities. Our recommendation: grab a beer early while the lines are short, and enjoy some jazzy pop ballads in the summer sun to start the day.
Circuit des Yeux | 4:00PM at the Blue Stage
Indiana native, Haley Fohr of Circuit des Yeux, takes brings her psychedlic folk to Pitchfork’s Blue Stage on Saturday. Her most recent album, Reaching For Indigo, was released in October 2017. Having performed at the festival once before, we’re looking forward to hearing how Circuit des Yeux has evolved in the two years since.
The War on Drugs | 7:25PM at the Red Stage
Indie rockers The War on Drugs will close out the Red Stage on Saturday. As their fourth studio album, A Deeper Understanding, approaches its first anniversary, we can only hope to hear some of our favorite tracks from it (but even more from Lost in the Dream).
Fleet Foxes | 8:30PM at the Green Stage
I’ve been waiting for Saturday’s headliner for years. In 2011, I was not in attendance and merely heard them via a shitty cellphone connection. This year, Fleet Foxes will bring 2017’s Crack-Up to the Green Stage, and hopefully a few favorites from past albums, too. Don’t miss your chance to let Fleet Foxes’ insane musicianship blow you away.
Stay tuned throughout the week for more of our “Pitchfork Must-Sees” and be sure to keep up with us this weekend as we post photos and other goodies from the festival grounds. And of course, visit us as we table at the CHIRP Record Fair!
