The much anticipated Pitchfork Music Festival is scheduled for July 20-22 this year, or (more colloquially) this weekend. We’re very much looking forward to the good weather, good music, and good vibes of the weekend. Here’s what we’re most looking forward to on Friday:
The Curls | 1:00PM at the Green Stage
Chicago’s The Curls will truly kick off Pitchfork on Friday. Nothing really makes as much sense as starting the festival with The Curls’ positive vibes and eclectic sound.
Melkbelly | 1:45PM at the Red Stage
Also representing Chicago on Friday are Chicago noise rockers, Melkbelly. If they play even a few songs off their October 2017 full-length, Nothing Valley, they’re going to leave the audience salivating and crazed and just plain ‘n’ simple wanting more.
Courtney Barnett | 7:25PM at the Red Stage
Pitchfork alumna, Courtney Barnett, returns to the festival on the heels of her second album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, released on May 18th of this year.
Tame Impala | 8:30PM at the Green Stage
Australian psych rockers, Tame Impala, headline Friday. Their last release was 2015’s Currents, though they have teased new music with electronic artist ZHU is on the horizon. Listen to the first (of hopefully many more) below.
Stay tuned throughout the week for more of our “Pitchfork Must-Sees” and be sure to keep up with us this weekend as we post photos and other goodies from the festival grounds. And of course, visit us as we table at the CHIRP Record Fair!
