Chicago’s Phillip-Michael Scales is going to be making moves tonight at Tonic Room. I’ve always admired how easily performance comes for Scales, singing with artful soul and obvious talent. Not only is he an adept performer, but his resume speaks volumes. Since the release of Sinner-Songwriter (and well before it, too), Scales has made it a general practice to play often, cutting his teeth in the local Chicago music scene before touring extensively and opening for acts such as Anderson East, Guster, and Kate Voegele, among others.
Opening this evening is Nikki Morgan, a singer-songwriter based in Chicago with the heart of a true Carolina girl.
