Well, it’s finally here. We’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of Midwest Hype’s latest effort since we first spoke to drummer/founder Max Kepler about it back in January. With its official release show now just days away, it looks like The Time is now.
A follow-up to 2012’s pop-fueled DAYGLOW EP, The Time is everything that Max hinted it would be – bigger, darker, and grittier. Recorded in California in just three days, the record does an excellent job of playing up the strengths of both the group’s impressive instrumentation, and the natural chemistry between vocalists Ideal and Genrefree. Check out the album’s title track and lead single, “The Time”, below.
Along with streaming on Spotify, Midwest Hype is currently offering a free download of the album. Check it out here and make sure to grab a physical copy from the show on Friday.
Doors for the 21+ show open at 7:30 PM at the Double Door – 1572 Milwaukee Ave. The show has a jam-packed bill with support from Spare Parts, The Palmer Squares, cLOUD9 and ILL Ambition with DJ sets from DJ Steezy. Tickets to see these five incredible acts will only cost you $10 and can be picked up at the door or online. We’ll see you there.
