Making its online premiere on Tuesday, “Prizefighter” is the first official music video from Mutts‘ unplugged LP, Object Permanence. The album, a stunning departure from the Chicago trio’s signature hard hitting rock, was released in April as a compliment to last summer’s Separation Anxiety.
The album’s stripped down tracks do a fantastic job of showcasing the songwriting strengths of group leader, Mike Maimone, and “Prizefighter” is no exception. The ballad is one of the album’s most accessible tracks and is simply a beautiful song.

I would highly recommend picking up a physical copy of the album through Mutt’s Bandcamp page. The vinyl comes in a translucent gold, and is well worth the $14.
Mutts is currently in the midst of a Midwest-heavy fall tour. Check out all of the remaining dates below, and try to make it out to one of the shows. I’ve been able to catch them in Chicago several times, and they always put on one hell of a performance.
