If you still aren’t familiar with the Swedish psych-rock-world music-funk stylings of GOAT, then now is the time to join the masses of followers that have seen the light. I first experienced their live show at last year’s Austin Psych Fest. I was blown away. I had been playing their debut album, World Music, religiously in anticipation of seeing the band’s set and they were more than I could ever imagine. They came to Chicago almost immediately after their psych fest debut and wowed the crowd at The Empty Bottle.
June 13th marked their return to our fine city as they helped christen Chicago’s newly renovated venue, Thalia Hall. It was a gorgeous setting for the band, almost as gorgeous as the river in Austin where I had originally seen them. With a slew of new songs in the set and their usually energy, GOAT sounded as good as ever. Opening were Austin natives Holy Wave and our very own Chicago psych-pop act Outer Minds.
It was an amazing night all around. Peruse the images below at your leisure and relive the show if you were there. Or if you weren’t, get a taste of what you missed.

GOAT’s next full length LP, Commune, will be released via Sub Pop this September.
