Spending my Sunday night with Bear’s Den was a wonderful way to end the weekend. The trio, hailing from London, closed out their U.S. tour last night at Schuba’s Tavern in Chicago. The folksy bunch delivered above and beyond. Impeccable vocal harmonies, spot-on instrumental fingerings, and impressive beards by all made for a cozy, warm, and reflective night in the intimate venue.
Bear’s Den was even sure to include an “unplugged” version of one of their songs, at which time they walked out and performed on the floor among audience members. Of course, this was well received with fans and bar-goers alike huddling around the three musicians. Beyond the obvious musical talent, the group also has a great presence and vibe.
Continually friendly, always grateful, and chock-full of playful banter, one couldn’t help but pay attention and smile whenever they spoke. The trio ended the night with a Drake cover (“Hold On We’re Going Home), a seemingly unusual choice for a band of their style, but they nailed it nonetheless. Proud to have seen them on their tour-closing night, we’ll be watching this lovable bunch for their next date in Chicago.
