Gazebo Effect’s new single, “Peace of Mind,” is going to feel a bit different to those who have been following the band and are familiar with their catalog. The single off their upcoming self-titled album emanates the feels of wintertime in Chicago. Frontman Jamie Major’s impressive vocals, especially on the chorus — “Why can’t something be sad and hopeful?” — are both mellow and beautifully upbeat. And while the song’s easygoing melody and guitar slides give way to introspective lyrics throughout, no Gazebo Effect track would be complete without a powerful solo from Eric Dost or Ray Bach. Fret not, because Bach does not disappoint on this one.

“Peace of Mind” is the kind of song to throw on while you’re sipping a tall whisky at home, warming up your body and your soul after an hour of shoveling the sidewalk on a blisteringly cold Chicago night. After a few listens your spirits will feel lifted as you find yourself singing along.
