Members of notable Chicago bands Oscar Bait, Boss Fight, Winter Classic, and Otto Mann have come together to form a Voltron-esque supergroup known simply as Sad Witches.
While they’ve just played their first show back in October and have only released this small collection of demos, each song sounds like it’s ready for a full-length release and a huge national tour.
“Luther” lulls you in with long drawn out synth chords that quickly explode into a powerful refrain of guitars, bass, and drums. Singer/guitarist Alex Bartlett’s vocals float on top of this sea of instruments effortlessly and add to the bands “indie pop” appeal.
“Summer Chairs” and “Winstead” are also highly polished demos that paint a great portrait of a band that has already made great strides in finding “their sound” with these 10 minutes worth of demo recordings.
Listen to the entire EP below and keep an eye for more from Sad Witches later in the year:
You can catch the band live this Sunday, March 3rd at Burlington Bar with The Burst And Bloom, Acceptor, and Binx. RSVP for the show via Facebook.
