It’s been just over a year since Chicago lo-fi artist Eric Wallgren graced us with his debut album Delicious, and we’ve been itching for more ever since. Lucky for us, Eric is back with a new single and a 5-track EP out September 9th. For fans of his earlier work, “Burning City Gasoline” will not disappoint.
The new single finds Eric taking on a similar minimalist approach but this time around the beats are more complex, the vocals and guitar more brooding, and the overall vibe is just… darker. That being said, bright synth chords float atop the mechanical rhythm section and provide the perfect amount of melody to keep things nice and dance-y. Listen to this lo-fi post-punk jam below:
